The Residential Area in Hasenbergl, designed by Querkraft Architekten, introduces a sensitive densification strategy that strengthens the existing urban fabric while minimizing disruption for residents. Rather than replacing, the project builds upon the potential of the current structures—new buildings dock onto existing ones, completing point buildings ("dots") along the northern firewall and reinforcing the linear row buildings through strategic extensions. Shared staircases, communal spaces, and cores foster connectivity, renewal, and a sense of community. Beyond architecture, the project enhances the public realm, linking the district’s fragmented spaces into a coherent sequence that mediates between surrounding centers. Landscape plays a defining role, as reinterpreted gravel banks, heaths, and pine-oak forests weave through the buildings, establishing natural identity markers that root the development within its environment.
