The Klagenfurt Health Clinic Extension, designed by Architects Collective, seamlessly integrates a new Head Centre into the existing hospital complex, maintaining the urban scale and courtyard rhythm of the site. Set back from the southern edge, it creates a spacious, car-free forecourt—a welcoming climate square with trees and seating. Prioritizing nature and efficiency, the design maximizes daylight and green spaces, featuring lush courtyards, a green roof terrace, and direct park connections. A timber element façade with carbonized spruce slats gives the building a warm, natural character. Inside, a carefully planned healing architecture approach ensures stress reduction, clear wayfinding, and seamless integration with the CMZ. Housing outpatient clinics, surgical and therapy areas, and staff wellness spaces, the extension blends functionality with a calm, healing environment that promotes well-being for patients, visitors, and staff alike.
